Multi-billionaire leaves not a trace

Google co-founder Larry Page has come and gone from Wanaka without, it seems, leaving a trace.

An Otago Daily Times search yesterday using the key words ''Larry Page Wanaka'' threw up 13.6 million results in 0.25seconds.

However, none the ODT scanned during an intensive five minutes of scrolling hinted at a link between the American multi-billionaire and Lonely Planet's 94th best place in the world to visit.

Two reliable sources in the ski industry did, however, confirm Mr Page had been in Wanaka days ago and had been kite skiing on the Pisa Range, above Cardrona.

The Wanaka businessman believed to have acted as his guide could not be reached last night.

Said to be worth about $NZ60billion, Mr Page was also rumoured to have been based in luxury accommodation in Ballantyne Rd at one point.

He did have another option.

As the ODT reported last week, his superyacht Senses was parked in Fiordland for a period, before calling into Dunedin to refuel, then departing for Auckland.
