Guilty plea to charges of assault

A man charged with assaulting two police officers and a security doorman in downtown Queenstown at the weekend has been named.

Wade Richard Amey (25), a New Zealander who lives in Australia, was arrested outside Bungalow bar in Camp St at 11pm on Saturday.

Appearing before a registrar in the Queenstown District Court yesterday, Amey pleaded guilty to six charges: assaulting Constable Melanie Allen, assaulting Acting Sergeant Jon Bisset with intent to obstruct, assaulting Darren Fogarty, threatening behaviour likely to cause violence, resisting a constable and causing intentional damage to a police car.

He was remanded on bail to appear in the Porirua District Court next Tuesday.

• A male prostitute arrested for assaulting a man in Queenstown on Saturday has been named as Parewhero Rikihana (21), of the Gold Coast, Australia.

Rikihana pleaded guilty to assaulting Michael Ryan Fitzpatrick when he appeared in the Queenstown District Court yesterday.

The case has been transferred to the Auckland District Court.
