It had blood, bruising and epic battles, and the man behind it all could not be happier.

On Saturday night more than 1200 people screamed themselves hoarse at the Queenstown Events Centre during the sold out 2015 Thriller in the Chiller charity boxing event.

This year, 85 people put their hands up, but only 18 made it into the ring, with one fight cancelled earlier this month because of injury.

Organiser Simon Green said the 2015 event was a stand out, and he praised the dedication of the fighters.

''I don't think there was anybody that looked like it was the first time in the ring, that's for sure, so that's a credit to the coaches.

''It's actually quite a rough night for us as a training team because you spend 16 weeks with these people ... and you're spending all that time trying to help them be the best they can be and then ... you set them against each other.

''It's a pretty gut wrenching night to be honest ... it's an emotionally exhausting night.''

This year the Mountain Scene sponsored event raised $60,000 for charities the Bruce Grant Youth Trust and Branches Charitable Trust.
