A skydiving cameraman seriously injured in a hard landing near Queenstown on Sunday has ''stabilised'' after surgery, his employer says.
The 36-year-old NZONE Skydive employee was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital suffering serious head and chest injuries and broken arms after the incident near Jack's Point.
Company spokesman Derek Melnick said the employee underwent surgery on Sunday night.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) did not return calls from the Otago Daily Times yesterday, but Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown police, said the parachute would be examined by CAA investigators.
The injured man was accompanying a group of tandem skydive customers on a jump when he experienced a gear malfunction, Mr Melnick told the ODT on Sunday.
The company's operations resumed yesterday.
