With 25 new toilets and 25 new showers available, campers at the Wanaka Lakeview Holiday Park are unlikely to be queuing much in the summer of 2016-17, and beyond.

The leaseholders of the Queenstown Lakes District Council-owned holiday park, Aggie Hofsteenge and Rudi Sanders, released details yesterday of their planned $1.5 million central services building.

It contains two kitchens, a lounge, dining and barbecue areas, laundry, sauna, spa and wheelchair facilities.

Ms Hofsteenge said the building had been designed to keep energy use low and to provide interesting spaces, inside and out.

Landscaping around the building would include ''edible gardens'' for the use of campers.

Ms Hofsteenge said the council had approved of the old services building being replaced with the new. However, building consent had still to be obtained.

The couple hope to see builders on site as soon as the Warbirds Over Wanaka crowds depart after Easter.

The couple took over the holiday park in November 2013 and have been itching to make major changes.

A $150,000 upgrade of the park's smaller ablution block is nearing completion.
