Remanded without plea on armed robbery charge

A Dunedin man accused of armed robbery with a baseball bat has been remanded in custody by consent.

Stephen Alister Andrew-Barry (24), fencer, of Mornington, is charged with stealing Logan Troy Hinds' Ford Falcon car on Tuesday in Cromwell.

Andrew-Barry was due to appear before a registrar at the Queenstown District Court this morning.

But he instead remained in police cells and was remanded in custody by consent without plea to appear in the Alexandra District Court on Thursday, December 3.

Court documents showed only one charge against Andrew-Barry in relation to the alleged robbery.

The charge is that being armed with an offensive weapon, namely a baseball bat, he robbed Mr Hinds, stealing the car.
