Queenstown company Sunrise Balloons takes advantage of ideal conditions in the Wakatipu Basin yesterday morning.
Owner and chief pilot Hugh McLellan said the operation - which charges $495 per person - was enjoying inflated bookings because of the Chinese New Year.
"We can't take any more at the moment. We're fully booked for the week. It is unusual for us to be that busy.''
Mr McLellan said it was lucky good weather coincided with the spike in bookings.
