Watersports building proposal to be tweaked

Some ‘‘minor'' changes are to be made to the proposal for a watersports facility on the Lake Wanaka foreshore before a resource consent hearing on February 29.

In a report last week, Queenstown Lakes District Council planner Sarah Picard recommended consent for the building be refused.

Her reasons included the size of the building and its effect on the landscape.

Yesterday, Paterson Pitts Group planner Duncan White, acting for the Wanaka Watersports Facility Trust, told the Otago Daily Times some minor design changes would be made to the building, the boardwalk and the landscape plan, to address Ms Picard's concerns.

Mr White said it was his opinion consent could be granted for the original application and with the changes ‘‘there's enough there for council to consider granting the application''.

The changes would be provided to the council before tomorrow's deadline for the applicant's evidence.
