Another non-injury car crash occurred on a gravel section of Ballantyne Rd, Wanaka, yesterday morning.

The driver was not injured.

Residents have been calling for Queenstown Lakes District Council action to improve the road after a series of crashes, and late yesterday the council introduced a temporary 50kmh speed restriction on sections of the road and also nearby Mt Barker Rd.

Council communications manager Michele Poole said the decision was made after an inspection by contractors.

‘‘Due to the continuing dry weather, it is not feasible to grade the roads at present so the speed restrictions will remain in place until there has been enough rain to make grading effective.''
