Warbirds ready to fly at the airshow.

Grey skies are lifting, temperatures are rising and the four-day Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow is under way.

The 260-tonne US C-17 Globemaster has done low passes over Wanaka Airport but did not land, being too heavy for the runway surface.

An array of aircraft all the way down to the lightest of drones is now in place and ready for the first public show day tomorrow.
