Street performer Milly Begley has more magic in store for the Queenstown Winter Festival.

The stilt walker, who has performed at the festival for 10 years, will perform as her character Ice Queen for another six nights.

She said she was "overwhelmed'' with the turnout on opening night as people filled the streets.

Ms Begley wanders around downtown Queenstown performing from 5pm to 7pm with her ground-bound sidekick, the fairy "Frostina''.

"It's about adding a bit of magic,'' Ms Begley said.

"We've had an awesome response from the public - people coming up to us in awe.''

Although the lack of cool temperatures and snow is taking its toll on skifields, Ms Begley said it made performing a little easier, even though their costumes are made with the cold in mind.

Her company, Flame Entertainment, will put on a show during this Sunday's Community Carnival, with more stilt walkers, hula-hoopers, firedancers and big bubble blowers.

Ms Begley, who is also a musician, performed an acoustic set on Sunday night as part of the festival's Winter Evening Sessions.
