A woman, believed to be an American tourist, who had been on the Big Hill Trail near Arrowtown, was found apparently safe and well last night after calling police by cellphone shortly before 6pm to say she was lost.
Police from Arrowtown and Queenstown were called in and the woman was walked out to safety by rescuers about 10pm, a police spokeswoman said.
