Working on one of Wakatipu's mums-to-be on the new "preggy
bed" is Remarkables Physios' physiotherapist Jackie

incorporate pregnant tummies so women can still have
physiotherapy and massage treatments while pregnant. Photo

Mums-to-be in the Wakatipu longing for a massage during
which they don't have to lie on their backs need long no more
with the introduction of the "preggy bed".
Remarkable Physios' managing director Melissa Davidson said
the Remarkables Park-based company was promising to bring
comfort and relaxation to pregnant women with a modified
physio bed.
"We are committed to this district and to doing our bit to
make life in the Wakatipu more family-friendly, starting with
mums-to-be."
The modified bed is designed to fit pregnant women lying on
their stomachs, with two cutouts to accommodate different
sized "preggy bulges" allowing the mother to lie on her front
with no pressure on her baby.
"The preggy bed allows us to effectively treat women in
various positions and ensures that the woman feels
comfortable and safe.
"We can also give massages while the woman completely
relaxes."
Ms Davidson said the feedback so far had been excellent.
"They report that it is wonderful to use and feels fantastic,
especially being able to lie flat on their fronts, which many
women miss while being pregnant."
Remarkable Physios is offering a free 30-minute massage to
every pregnant woman in the Wakatipu, upon proof of pregnancy
and residency, for the next 12 months, enabling all the
resort's mums-to-be to experience the preggy bed for
themselves.
