There were a ton of thrills, plenty of spills but no real
surprises when the New Zealand Supercross Championships
wrapped up at Taupo on Saturday afternoon.
Queenstown international motocross rider Scott Columb has
been laid low by injury recently but in a joyous email
to Drivesouth, the former MX1 world championship racer
described his road to recovery.
When the main sponsor for his Relentless Suzuki team in
England pulled the pin a month ago, Queenstown rider Scott
Columb found himself struggling for motivation.
After a recent spate of second placings, Queenstown's Scott
Columb is "back on top'' and leading the 250cc class of the
New Zealand Supercross Championships.
The sky's the limit - that's the catch-phrase for this
season's four-round New Zealand Supercross Championships, set
to kick off in the South Island on January 6.
"Disappointed" was Queenstown racer Scott Columb's assessment
of his state of mind after finishing second in the New
Zealand motocross championships' MX2 class.
When you reach your 36th race for the season, a shot of
enthusiasm is necessary and Scott Columb received that in the
form of his new electronic, fuel-injected Suzuki RM-Z250.
Kiwi internationals Scott Columb, of Queenstown, and Michael
Phillips, of Rotorua, have been locked in a fierce struggle
to win ascendancy in the New Zealand Motocross Championships'
MX2 (250cc) class
