Sequels to James Cameron's blockbuster film Avatar look set to be shot in Wellington, with the acclaimed director in talks with Weta Digital.

Director James Cameron said today that a real-life "Avatar" battle is playing out in Brazil's Amazon rain forest, where indigenous groups are trying to halt the construction of a huge hydroelectric project.

The stars came out in Arrowtown when about 30 movie-lovers dressed the part at the seventh annual Dorothy Brown's Oscars Party on Monday night.
