A nominal date next month has been set for the High Court at
Timaru to consider a challenge against the Waitaki District
Council approving resource consents and compliance
certificates for 16 new dairy farms in the Omarama and Ohau
areas.
An Auckland-based "green" lobby, the Environmental Defence
Society (EDS), says it will file proceedings in the High
Court at Timaru next week challenging resource consents for
three "cubicle" dairy farms in the Mackenzie Basin.
The Waitaki District Council is being taken to the High Court
over its decision to grant approval for 16 proposed dairy
farms in the Omarama and Ohau areas without notifying them
for the public to comment.
