Strong New Zealand sales have buoyed Hallenstein Glasson
Holdings Ltd's after-tax profit for the first half of its
financial year, but current sales are being undermined by
warmer-than-usual autumn weather.
Transtasman main street clothing retailer Hallensteins
Glassons has posted a boost in sales, market share, dividends
and after-tax profit for its trading year to August, but
remains cautious about retailing recovery for the year ahead.
Clothing retailer Hallenstein Glasson has delivered where its
competitors are stumbling, booking increased revenue and a
more than 25% profit boost for its half-year trading to
February.
A "flagship" outlet of men's clothing chain Hallensteins will
open in Queenstown almost 150 years after founder and former
mayor Bendix Hallenstein first opened a general store in the
town.
Hallenstein Glasson faces
a challenging future, as seven Christchurch stores remain
closed since the February earthquake and volatile cotton
prices are forcing the listed retailer to pay suppliers
earlier.
A better product offering and a stronger New Zealand dollar
helped clothing retailer Hallenstein Glasson lift its
operating profit by nearly 60% in the year ended August 1.
