The late British TV presenter Jimmy Savile, honoured by both
the queen and the pope, sexually assaulted hundreds of
people, mainly children, at BBC premises and hospitals over
six decades of unparalleled abuse, a police-led report says.
The family of the BBC presenter at the centre of a sex abuse
scandal that has rocked the broadcaster has offered its
"deepest sympathy" to the late Jimmy Savile's victims, saying
it felt "despair and sadness".
A sex scandal gripping Britain's BBC has deepened with claims
that a paedophile ring had existed involving some of its
stars, as its former director general said his handling of
the case shouldn't stop him becoming the boss of the New York
Times.
Pressure on the BBC to address allegations its bosses covered
up sexual abuse claims levelled at one of its former TV stars
is mounting after British Prime Minister David Cameron said
the broadcaster had serious questions to answer.
