Department of Conservation (DOC) staff say a dolphin found
dead in the Bay of Plenty is probably Moko, who has
entertained beachgoers on the North Island east coast for the
past few years.
Moko the friendly bottlenose dolphin's presence in Whakatane
continues to create a waves with his minders angry they have
been told their services are no longer needed.
The Department of Conservation (DOC) is investigating reports
that Moko the dolphin was injured when he was hit with an oar
by an irate woman in a waka in the Bay of Plenty.
