Nepal officials have vowed to ensure the safety of climbers
seeking to scale Mount Everest after three European climbers
were involved in a fight with sherpa guides on their way to
the peak of the world's highest mountain.
Since Sir Edmund Hillary claimed his world-first ascent in
1953, New Zealand climbers have established a global
reputation on Mt Everest. At the forefront are climbers from
the Wanaka-Hawea area. Lucy Ibbotson reports.
