Southern football fans will experience another taste of the
professional game when the Wellington Phoenix play an
A-League match at the Forsyth Barr Stadium later this year.
A-League club Wellington Phoenix will be without first-team
regular Tony Lochhead for at least eight weeks after it was
today confirmed the New Zealand international would require
surgery on his injured groin.
Wellington Phoenix defender Jon McKain is on the verge of a
big-money soccer move to the Middle East, according to
several international media reports.
Discussions are continuing in a bid to find an alternative
service for disruptive secondary school pupils following the
closure of the Phoenix Centre in Dunedin last term.
The final link in next season's Wellington Phoenix defence
was riveted in today with Jon McKain agreeing to stay another
two years with the A-League football club.
