South Island touch
At the South Island secondary schools championships, Otago
was represented by six teams and nine referees. Teams
registering top-four placings in the championship qualify for
the New Zealand championships to be held in Hamilton in
December.
The Columba College team of Alexander Byars, Andrew Hughes,
Callum White and Claudia Gallagher won the eighth annual
Otago Primary Schools golf tournament in a seven-hole
competition at the Belleknowes course yesterday.
Midfield back Aleki Morris was in dynamic form and played a
key role in Otago Boys' High School's comprehensive 29-8 win
over Waitaki Boys' High School at Littlebourne in Dunedin
yesterday.
Openside flanker Nick Hayes was a terrier and played a key
role in Southland Boys' High School's 18-8 win over King's
High School in Dunedin yesterday.
Shannon Edgar took control on the cycling leg to give the
Columba College senior girls team a comfortable win in the
Otago secondary schools duathlon championships at North
Taieri yesterday.
