The historic pedestrian causeway unearthed during construction of Dunedin's Wall Street mall needs almost another year of treatment before it is safely preserved.

A visit to the Wall Street four months ago by Marbecks managing director Roger Harper led to the mall being chosen for the company's new concept store.

The wall has come down, but there never was a Cold War.

The walkway linking the Wall Street and Golden Centre shopping malls in Dunedin will finally open this week, completing a sprawling undercover shopping space after nearly a year of delays and finger-pointing.

Music retailer Marbecks is to open a new concept store in Dunedin's Wall Street shopping mall, it has been confirmed.
