YouTube's latest app update for Android appears to support
speculation the internet giant is set to charge visitors to
view some video.
The update includes code which tells users ' You can only
subscribe/subscriber to this paid channel on your computer',
according to Android news site
AndroidPolice.
Speculation has been mounting that Google is interested in a
move to paid channels on YouTube.
AdAge said last month YouTube had contacted a small group
of channel producers asking them to submit applications to
create channels viewers would have to pay to access.
It appeared the first paid channels would cost between $US1
and $US5 a month, it reported.
