Last year 6000 people went to New Zealand's first steampunk exhibition "Steampunk: tomorrow as it used to be" at the Forrester Gallery in Oamaru. Even greater numbers are expected this year.

Organisers of the Christchurch steampunk fashion show, Take Flight by Gaslight, regret to announce that due to such a huge response and the demands on the organisers the show will now be held in 2011.

"We were overwhelmed with public interest, which was gratifying as it is such a new concept to New Zealand as a whole," producer Fabiana Bronte says.

Christchurch Steampunk fashion designer Fabiana Bronte is pleased to announce that planning has begun on New Zealand’s very first dedicated , Steampunk Fashion Show and a Steampunk Exhibition, to be held in Christchurch later this year.
