An engine fire on the Taieri Gorge Railway forced the famous
tourist train to stop whilst crossing a viaduct. The train
was making a routine journey from Dunedin earlier this
afternoon and carrying a small number of passengers when an
engine unit caught fire.
If Dunedin was my home and garden rather than my city, I
would feel quite embarrassed when visitors came, to have such
a messy, unkempt-looking, sad and uncared-for looking home.
As a visiting professor for the third time in Dunedin, I have
followed with interest your coverage of the attempt to come
up with a new branding name for Dunedin.
