Russian passenger plane briefly hijacked

Russian officials say a man briefly hijacked a plane, holding passengers hostage on the ground at a main Moscow airport until police disguised as medics detained him.

Domodedovo Airport spokeswoman Yelena Galanova said the plane had arrived from the southern city of Mineralniye Vody. A man on board held the crew and 105 passengers hostage on the tarmac for 2 hours after landing.

Tatyana Trunova, a spokeswoman for transport police, said in televised comments that the hijacker agreed to allow several passengers medical attention, and that the plane was freed when police disguised as doctors seized him.
