Some 3500 couples have been married in South Korea in the
first mass wedding ceremony organised by the Unification
Church since its founder's death.
The ceremony took place yesterday at Cheongshim Peace World
Centre in Gapyeong, about 60km northeast of Seoul.
Another 24,000 followers, often known as Moonies, were
married at the same time in other countries via video link,
in a ceremony presided over by Hak Ja-han, the widow of Sun
Myung Moon, who died in September.
The church performed its first mass wedding in 1961 with 33
couples.
