No survivors after Alaska plane crash

All nine people aboard an excursion plane from a Holland America Line cruise ship that crashed in south-east Alaska died in the accident, the aircraft company has confirmed.

Promech Air said in a statement that the eight passengers and pilot were killed when the plane went down during a tour of the Misty Fjords area near the town of Ketchikan on Thursday afternoon (local time)

The small float plane had carried passengers from the cruise ship Westerdam. The ship left Seattle in the United States last Saturday.

US Coast Guard and local search and rescue teams have gone to the site.

A television station in  Anchorage, Alaska, quoted a spokeswoman for the Alaska State Troopers as saying the plane was found on a rock face about 240m above Ella Lake.
