A Melbourne man has been dragged and has fallen off the
bonnet of a fleeing car as he tried to stop a pair of
would-be thieves.
The man and his partner had returned to their northern
Melbourne home in Plenty late on Sunday night to see an
unknown man running from the back of his work trailer toward
a waiting car with a driver inside.
Some of the man's toolboxes were sitting on the road as the
man ran toward the runaway thief.
Police say the man was then struck, but he managed to leap
onto the bonnet of the fleeing car as it took off down the
road.
The man held on to the windscreen wipers as the car raced up
to 50km/h and started fishtailing, throwing him off the
vehicle.
He suffered minor bruising and scratches but didn't have to
be taken to hospital.
Police are searching for the two would-be thieves, who left
with nothing but likely have broken windscreen wipers on
their dark Holden Commodore sedan.
The two men are described as in their mid-20s.
The driver had a slim build with brown hair.
