Police seize gun after Sydney shooting

Police have seized a gun from a northwestern Sydney home targeted in one of two drive-by shootings as they investigate involvement by an outlaw bikie gang.

Several people were inside the home in the Cherrybrook street when it was hit with multiple bullets about 5.30am yesterday.

None were injured, police said.

A number of bullet holes were also found in a car near the house.

Superintendent Stephen Fowler said police found a gun at the home.

"During our investigation a firearm was identified as being stored at the premises," he told reporters on Tuesday.

"It appears not to be related to the overnight shooting but we have taken that firearm into our possession."

Police are understood to be investigating whether the resident is a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang.

"He does have apparent links to outlaw motorcycle gangs," Supt Fowler said.

Meanwhile in a second shooting a single shot was fired at a home at Milperra in Sydney's southwest just before 2am (AEDT).

Two adults and three teenagers were inside at the time.

No one was injured and a crime scene has been established as forensic police and detectives investigate.

A neighbour, who did not wish to be identified, said he was astonished to arrive home and find camera crews on the street.

He said he knew the family through the local school and described them as wonderful people.

"The family who lives in the house is the nicest family," he told AAP.

"I don't have any clue why this would have happened to them."

Police don't believe the two shootings are linked.

Several witnesses have been spoken to as investigations continue.
