Three circus monkeys had a brief taste of freedom when they
escaped from an overturned trailer on the Princes Highway in
NSW's south.
Police said the trailer tipped on its side when the driver of
the Nissan Patrol towing it lost control and hit the concrete
dividing barrier at Bombo, north of Kiama, about 2.45pm
(local time) yesterday.
Three monkeys in the trailer escaped and ran onto the highway
but were quickly rescued by circus staff who were travelling
in convoy.
Two lanes of the highway remained blocked during an operation
to right the trailer.
The Nissan's 21-year-old female driver suffered minor
injuries and was taken by ambulance to Shellharbour Hospital.
