A siege in Perth's southern suburbs has ended with the death
of the gunman.
Officers from the Tactical Response Group swarmed a house at
the corner of Albatross Pass and Woodpecker Avenue in
Willetton just after 4pm (WST) on Thursday as helicopters
hovered overhead.
Police said the standoff started when a bailiff arrived at
the property to repossess one or more items. The man fired a
shot and the bailiff ran away uninjured and called for help.
Nearby residents had been asked to remain in their homes,
stay away from their windows and follow all directions from
police, but many ignored the instructions and watched the
events unfold from the edge of police road blocks.
The stand-off ended just after 6pm when police said the
threat to the public was over.
No details were available about how the man died.
