Is Kevin Rudd the new Vladimir Putin?
The former prime minister has posted a video of himself
trying to do some pull-ups with a muscle-bound personal
trainer at Brisbane's Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
Mr Rudd whips off his jacket as the trainer gives him a quick
demo.
"Here we go," the Labor backbencher says as he confidently
approaches the apparatus.
But as Mr Rudd readies himself for the workout, he realises
he can't reach the handles.
The trainer grabs Mr Rudd around the waist and tries to boost
him up.
But the effort falls flat and Mr Rudd gives up after a couple
of attempts.
A number of political leaders around the world love to
demonstrate how macho they are - including former Russian
president Putin, who in recent years has been pictured
hunting topless, horse riding and engaged in martial arts.
The Russian leader, who made a comeback to the presidency in
2012, has even published a book about foreign policy called
Being Strong.
A second video, posted by Mr Rudd later on Friday morning,
shows the MP doing pull-ups from some lower handles.
The apparently impromptu workout occurred as Mr Rudd prepared
for his weekly appearance on the Seven Network's Sunrise
program on Friday morning.
It's not the first time the Queenslander has posted a video
of himself working out.
A fortnight ago he published a video of himself lifting
weights.
The video, titled Getting ready this morning for the Big Guns
of politics on Sunrise, has gained more than 7000 views on
YouTube.
It comes as speculation continues that Mr Rudd may be
plotting a prime ministerial comeback.
But the Queensland politician has flatly denied a plot to
muscle in on the Labor leadership.
