A Victorian teenager killed as he attempted to cross railway
tracks may have misjudged the speed of the oncoming train,
The 13-year-old boy was at Riddells Creek train station,
about 50km north of Melbourne, when he was hit by an express
train bound for Bendigo about 2pm on Sunday.
Inspector Neil Cheney said it appeared the boy was attempting
to change platforms.
"When they're coming at you it's hard to judge the speed and
I suspect that may have been a factor," Insp Cheney told Nine
"It's just a terrible event all round."
The boy died at the scene.
