A five-month-old baby has suffered facial injuries during a
domestic dispute Western Australia's Kimberley region,
prompting a police investigation.
A WA police spokeswoman confirmed police were called to a
house in the Fitzroy Crossing community over the weekend
after reports of a disturbance involving a 26 year-old woman.
It will be alleged that, when officers returned a few hours
later, the same woman had hit her male partner over the head
with a bottle while he was holding the infant.
The child was allegedly cut across the face and had to be
flown to Broome hospital for surgery.
The woman has been charged with aggravated unlawful wounding.
The man was charged with aggravated unlawful assault, damage
and breaching a police order after allegedly hitting the
woman following the assault.
He was due to appear in Broome Magistrates' court later
