Man refused bail over triple assaults

A man accused of assaulting three men in an apparently unprovoked attack at a Parramatta shopping centre has been refused bail.

Nuku Mohi, 23, is alleged to have punched and kicked his first victim, a 26-year-old man sitting in the centre's food court, yesterday.

He's then accused of hitting a 61-year-old man in the head, knocking him out, and assaulting a 21-year-old security guard, who tried to restrain him.

All three victims had to be hospitalised.

Police later charged Mohi with one count of assault, two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of affray.

On Wednesday, Mohi made a brief appearance at Parramatta Local Court where his legal aid lawyer didn't apply for bail on his client's behalf, and it was formally refused by Magistrate Joan Baptie.

Mohi's lawyer at one point flagged a possible bail application, but instead sought an adjournment to "allow additional legal advice to be provided".

Mohi appeared in the dock and showed little emotion in the brief proceeding.

Court documents show all three assaults allegedly occurred between 12.43pm and 12.49pm (local time).

According to the documents, police initially refused Mohi bail on the belief he "without provocation ... assaulted three victims with the potential for significant serious injury".

The matter will return to Parramatta Local Court on Monday.
