Man hit with pole in Christmas home invasion

A man was struck with a metal pole during a home invasion in South Australia during the early hours of Christmas morning.

Police were called to the house at Whyalla Norrie, southwest of Port Augusta, about 2.30am after two men had reportedly forced their way inside.

One resident was assaulted and struck with a metal pole during the break-in, police allege.

The man suffered a cut to the back of his head and was taken to hospital.

A 34-year-old Whyalla Norrie man has been arrested and is assisting police.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the alleged second offender.

The suspects and the victim all knew each other, police said.
