Police were confronted with a "horrific" scene when they
arrived at a southeast Queensland home where a woman and girl
had been stabbed to death, investigators say.
Detective Inspector Paul McCusker says police and paramedics
were called to the house, in the Toowoomba suburb of Newtown,
at 9.20am (local time).
"Quite obviously it's a quite distressing state for police to
arrive ... and to find this horrific scene," he told
reporters in Toowoomba this afternoon.
Det Insp McCusker said a male who resided at the Redwood
Street home was assisting police.
