A two-metre sinkhole has opened under a major Queensland highway, forcing it to be closed.
Road authorities will travel to the Bruce Highway near Bowen today to inspect damage caused by the sinkhole, which police say swallowed part of the road last night.
"It's reportedly about two metres and getting bigger," a police spokeswoman told AAP.
No one was hurt.
An inland diversion has been set up.
