Woman (75) due in court over axe murder

A 75-year-old woman could be arrested if she fails to turn up at court to answer a charge of murdering her husband, using two knives and an axe.

Lucia Colella is accused of murdering Antonio Colella at their Alberton home in Adelaide last July.

She was in hospital until she was granted home detention bail on November 7.

When applying for bail, her lawyer said she had never been in trouble with the police and had suffered from undiagnosed psychosis and psychotic episodes before her husband's death.

The crown had argued against bail saying Colella was unstable and posed a risk to both herself and the community.

She failed to attend the Adelaide Magistrates Court on November 27, resulting in magistrate Bob Harrap issuing a warrant for her arrest.

But he ordered it to remain on the file and only be activated if she does not attend court today.
