Second cafe blast victim to be farewelled

The eldest victim of the Ravenshoe cafe explosion will be farewelled during a funeral service in far north Queensland today.

Margaret Clarke, 82, was one of 19 people hospitalised when an out-of-control utility slammed into the Serves You Right Cafe at Ravenshoe on June 9, triggering a gas bottle explosion.

Mrs Clarke died as a result of her injuries days later.

The blast also claimed the life of 37-year-old mother of two Nicole Nyholt, who was managing the cafe at the time.

The driver of the ute, 60-year-old Brian Scutt, remains in the Cairns Hospital in a serious condition.

Five women and four men aged between 20 and 75 remain in the hands of specialists at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, including one patient whose condition is still critical.
