Australian could face terror charges

An Australian man has been arrested in Tripoli and could face terrorism charges, according to Lebanese media.

The man has been named by Voice of Lebanon radio as Mark Eddie Maximus.

He was arrested in the Dam wal Farz district yesterday and detained by army intelligence officers on "suspicion of belonging to a terrorist group", according to an English translation of the Voice of Lebanon report.

The man was believed to be a dual Australian-Syrian national, the ABC reports.

He was reportedly picked up after a vehicle in which he was travelling was tracked by Lebanese intelligence.
