Quake rattles Northern Territory

A magnitude-5.9 earthquake has rattled the Northern Territory.

The quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometres around 460 kilometres southwest of Alice Springs at 4.14am on Saturday, according to the US Geological Survey.

The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre said the quake measured 6.1 and was reported as being felt near Fregon, South Australia and Ulara, in the Northern Territory.
