Adelaide Hills on flood watch

Parts of the Adelaide Hills are on flood watch with heavy rain forecast.

The Bureau of Meteorology says up to 50mm is expected across parts of the Mt Lofty Ranges today,  which will swell rivers and creeks.

It says minor flooding is possible in areas adjacent to the Torrens, Onkaparinga and North Para rivers.

"People living or working close to rivers and creeks should monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to a safe location should flooding develop," the bureau said.

To help locals prepare, the State Emergency Service made 6000 empty sandbags available at three locations late yesterday.

It also warned residents against trying to drive through floodwaters and urged children not to play in or near rising rivers and creeks.
