Earlier today two Southern Right Whales entered the Otago
Harbour, being initially sighted just around 2.00pm by Port
Otago crewmen on the New Era, not far from the
Aramoana Mole.
Tourists onboard M.V Monarch were treated to the sight
of the two whales, which had made their way inside the Otago
Harbour around 2.30pm this afternoon.
The whales remained within the harbour for around 2 hours,
getting in as far as Weller's Rock before swimming past
Harrington Point, then eventually leaving bound for the open
ocean about 4pm.
