Waitati school for many years held an annual bonfire night
(they're having one again this year).
One year the Waitati militia offered to run the lolly
scramble for the kids.
They turned up in full "military" regalia.....and a cannon!
They proceeded to pack the barrel with macintoshes toffees.
The kids thought it was so exciting and waiting in
anticipation.
The cannon exploded shooting out lollies across the playing
field, the kids scrambled but their excitement turned to
dispair when they found their lollies singed and tasting of
gunpowder.
Not ideal from a health and safety point of view but the most
memorable lolly scramble I've ever seen!
