The weekend of November 19 and 20 saw a fitting finale to the
2011 Oamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations, with a street
parade and the National Penny Farthing and Veteran Cycle
Championships on Saturday and a well-supported Victorian Fete
on Sunday.
Crowds came from near and far - with many appropriately
attired in period costume adding to the authenticity.
A fantastic weekend, and surely one of the best run and
supported events of its kind in the district. Well done to
all the organisers, paid and unpaid, who turned on such a
fantastic showcase of community pride.
