Children happily bounced on a gigantic castle, rode in Flick
the little fire truck, had their nails and faces painted,
their hair braided and watched Magician Jonathan Usher.
Other activities included spin painting and fishing for lucky
dips. Even more fun was had when they could throw balls at a
big ‘dart-board’ and see volunteers get a bucket of water
splashed over their head.
The community of Dunedin North came together on Sunday
afternoon for a party in the Salvation Army Dunedin Citi
Corps carpark.
In conjunction with the Salvation Army, local businesses
Filadelfio’s, Century 21 Real Estate, St Johns, the Police,
the local pharmacy and butcher donated their time and food
for the celebrations.
The Salvation Army Nite Church band provided endless
entertainment singing popular music while the police AOS unit
fascinated all ages with their sophisticated equipment.
Pippety Pop the balloonologist, and local university students
also did their bit to entertain families and whānau.
There was a fantastic turnout with the warm spring weather
and Salvation Army co-ordinator Mark said “it was a picture
of a community having fun”.
