Business students from the University of Otago will be
studying around the world for less after winning $27,000 worth
of exchange scholarships.
Student exchange scholarships valued between $1000 and $3000
were awarded to 17 students.
Three scholarships are available - the Dean's Exchange
Scholarship, the Westpac Travelling Scholarship and
University of Otago Travel Grants - to help students study
overseas for one or two semesters.
Ms Aarts won the top scholarship, for $3000, from Westpac to
study in Chile.
Ms Aarts was excited about travelling to South America to use
some of the Spanish she had learnt.
"I'm scared I'll like it so much I won't want to come back."
Exchange co-ordinator Bronwen Cooper said students benefited
from breaking out of their comfort zones.
"You notice a difference in students when they come back.
It's really incredible."
